Gambia: GTBank Appoints Western Union Sub-Agent

Guaranty Trust Bank - Gambia Ltd, one of the leading institutions in the country's booming financial sector, has appointed five (5) sub-agents for its Western Union transactions. The formal adoption of these institutions was done at a brief ceremony held at the premises of the bank's headquarters along Kairaba Avenue, on Friday December 14, 2007.

Speaking at the ceremony, Olalekan Sanusi, the managing director, GTBank (Gambia) Ltd, said that it took his institution about five years - since its inception, to assume a direct agent status, which is a requirement for one to appoint their own sub-agents. He said that sub-agents are important for the effective service delivery at the grass roots level. The newly appointed sub-agents include: BLE, Amana, Olympic Travels, Malang Forex Bureau, which is said to be a long time partner of the bank, and Best Rates.
