Eritrea: Eritrean Shipping Lines Renders Efficient Service in Transporting Goods This Year

Massawa — In line with its endeavors to render efficient and speedy service, the Eritrean Shipping Lines has transported tens of thousands of tones of solid and liquid goods this year to and fro the nation's ports and different parts of the world.

The head of operation department in the Shipping Lines, Mr. Tesfai Tekle, pointed out that Eritrean ships have transported about 22,000 tones and 13,000 tones of solid and liquid goods respectively, as well as 11,000 machineries and 265 vehicles to and fro the country's ports and the world.

He explained that the Eritrean Shipping Lines has 4 ships, namely Angelos, Selam, Beilul and Yohana, which transport goods to and fro Port Sudan, Egypt, Jeddah, India, Yemen, Qatar, the Arabian Straits, Tanzania and other ports. He further indicated that revenue amounting to 60 million Nakfa has been secured as a result of its efficient service.

Noting that the company has its own ship repair workshop in Massawa on the basis of internal capacity, Mr. Tesfai explained that it has been organizing skill upgrading trainings both inside the country and abroad, and that the company has captains with certificate of international standard.
