Kampala — YOU can't beat this one! One man seems to have already got his Christmas present under his arm. MPs on the committee on presidential affairs on Tuesday approved a new jet for the presidency.
The new Gulf Stream 550 costs $48.2m, the State House Comptroller, Richard Muhinda, said. Flanked by presidential pilot Gen. Ali Kiiza, Muhinda told the committee chaired by Bushenyi Woman MP Mary Karooro Okurut that the new jet consumes less fuel, requires less inspection and does not need many stopovers like the old one.
According to the brief, the Gulf Stream IV SP, which the Government bought in 2000, went out of production in 2003 and its warranty had expired.
