Nairobi — FIFTY year-old Mr Jackton Akalenjon has abandoned his six-acre farm in Butula division in Busia district to be a sugar cane cutter in the Mumias sugar belt.
After tilling the land for more than a decade, Akalenjon concluded that it was an exercise in futility to continue farming, as harvest remained at 200kg of maize from three acres under cultivation.
