Nairobi — Petroleum dealers have expressed fears of a fuel shortage ahead of Christmas and Thursday's General Election.
Yesterday, sources said the fuel pumped to western Kenya on Friday fell below order, triggering panic that it could ground transport operations.
Industry players also told The Standard that the Kenya Pipeline Corporation (KPC) last pumped fuel to Eldoret, Kisumu and Nakuru depots on Friday and the next supply was expected on December 28. Dealers blamed KPC and shippers for the situation.
They said the fuel was enough for two days after which western Kenya would have a crisis. Eldoret, which expected four million litres of diesel only received 600,000 litres while Kisumu that had ordered three million litres got one million. Nakuru received a paltry 500,000 litres against its expectation of three million litres.
