President Isaias Afwerki conveyed message of condolence to the family of the martyred veteran fighter Mohammed Omar Abdalla (Abutiara) on behalf of the people and Government of Eritrea in which he expressed deep sorrow.

In message, the President underlined that the late veteran fighter Mohammed Omar Abdalla (Abutiara) was one of the patriots among the founding fathers of the armed struggle for independence in the wake of the big powers' conspiracy against the right of the Eritrean peoples to self-determination. He further underscored that the fallen hero is a symbol of the legacy of the Eritrean people's steadfastness and victory. President Isaias went on to emphasize that the memory of the late veteran fighter would occupy a special place in the annals of the Eritrean people's history.

Veteran fighter Mohammed Omar Abdalla (Abutiara) is one of the pioneer freedom fighter who launched the liberation struggle in 1961 along with Hamed Idris Awate. Committed as he were to the struggle, he had been resolutely struggling for years and rallying fighters behind the armed struggle for independence.
