Kenya: Ballots Run Out in Molo

Nairobi — Six polling stations in Molo ran out of ballot papers, causing anger among voters who had queued for hours.

But the returning officer, Mr Laban Korellach, intervened before the situation went out of hand and ordered polling clerks to get ballot papers from the nearest polling stations.

The situation was tense at Moto Primary School where angry voters pelted polling clerks with stones after a long delay. No one was injured during the ten-minute incident after security officers intervened.

Voting continued after two hours. Tired women and men lay on the grass as they waited to cast their votes.
