Asmara — President Isaias Afwerki today sent a message of condolence to President Pervez Musharaf of Pakistan, in connection with the assassination of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto. The text of the message follows:
His Excellency Mr. Pervez Musharaf
President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan
Dear Mr. President,
It is with great shock and deep sorrow that we have learned of the heinous assassination of Mrs. Benazir Bhutto on 27 December 2007.
At this hour of national loss and grief, I strongly condemn the cowardly and terrorist attack on a prominent Pakistani political figure and would like to extend, on behalf of the Government of Eritrea and on my own behalf, my condolences to Your Excellency, and through you, to the Government and friendly people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and to the bereaved family of the deceased.
Accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.
