Open conflict is brewing between numerous employers in the private sector and the government, on account of a minimum wage directive by the government.
After it was initially halted, the change to new "minimum wages" stretching from Sh65,000 at first to Sh350,000, now seems like it will be applied. Certain changes were made to the directive as regards the wage to be paid to housemaid or house-helps as many prefer, bringing down the figure to Sh25,000 or thereabouts.
