Interim Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf returned to the southern town of Baidoa on Monday after a weeks-long trip overseas for an annual medical checkup.
President Yusuf was welcomed at the Baidoa airstrip by Prime Minister Nur "Adde" Hassan Hussein and parliament Speaker Sheikh Adan "Madobe" Mohamed, among other government officials.
The president held a closed-door meeting with his premier later today at the Baidoa presidential palace, sources said.
No information has been given to the media about the private discussion between Yusuf and Nur Adde, but sources said the discussion was primarily focused on Prime Minister Nur Adde's nominations for his 18-member Cabinet.
A spokesman for the Somali president's office told Garowe Online that President Yusuf is "very healthy" and will soon address the country about his recent trip to Kenya and Europe.
Meanwhile, insurgent attacks continued in the national capital Mogadishu where at least 7 civilians were killed in overnight Sunday clashes. [ Full story]
