The need to enact a law that would grant Muslims national holiday in commemoration of a major Islamic event has been suggested by Information Minister Rev. Dr. Lawrence Bropleh.
Minister Bropleh, who is a renowned Methodist Pastor said Wednesday tha:t "The suggestion of a Muslim holiday is a call that can be forwarded to the national legislature and may be enacted as a national holiday for Muslims if it meets consensus because every where in the world Muslim and Christian are the dominant religions, thus both of them go side by side".
Speaking Wednesday on Real TV program, Lunch Time Live, he elucidated an earlier statement that he called for the annulment of all Christian holidays, instead he noted that his call was to engender what he called "religious tolerance between the two religions.
Minister Bropleh said it would be prudent for Christians, like their Muslim counterparts receive the same religious holiday recognition in Liberia, stating that his comments are void of religious unrest as perceived by some Liberians.
The Information Minister used the Real TV program to admonished citizens to stop castigating each other if differences arise in matters relating to policy indifference as his statement had received colossal condemnation from mainly the Christians community.
