Masssawa

Geez Christmas was today colorfully celebrated in Gedem, in the vicinity of the port city of Massawa, at national level. The celebration was transmitted live via ERI-TV and Dimtsi Hafash.

Government officials including the Defense Minister, General Sebhat Ephrem, Army commanders, religious leaders, members of the public and invited guests participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Head of Staff of the Eritrean Naval Force, Brig. General Fitsum Gebrehiwet, wished the Eritrean people Merry Geez Christmas and New Year. Noting that the Eritrean people have reached the year 2008 after overcoming enemy conspiracies and obstacles, he pointed out that the document marking the virtual demarcation of the nation's border is now in our hands.

Brig. General Fitsum went on to indicate the New Year should witness the realization of the action plan charted in line with the integrated drive for liberation, development and prosperity of Eritrea.
