Angola: Benguela - CAF Chairperson Assesses CAN-2010 Preparation

Benguela

The chairman of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Issa Hayatou, arrived Tuesday morning in south-western Benguela province to learn on the ongoing preparations for the holding of the African Cup of Nations in 2010.

According to the programme, made available to ANGOP, during a few-hour visit, the Cameroonian Issa Hayatou will, among other activities, visit the municipal Stadium of Benguela and the site where the soccer field that will host the competition is being built.

The chairperson of the Confederation of African Football will also assess the conditions of Benguela Central Hospital, under rehabilitation, Mombaka and Praia Morena hotels, as well as the guest house Wesa, units that will accommodate the guests.

Issa Hayatou was received, at "17 de Setembro" Airport, by vice-governor of Benguela, João Evangelista, the local director of Youth and Sports, Pedro Garcia, and other officials.

On Wednesday, he will travel to far-northern Cabinda province to check the pace of the construction works of the stadiums for the referred competition.

Apart from Benguela, the provinces of Luanda, Huila, Huambo and Cabinda will also host the final phase of the continental event.
