President Isaias Afwerki last night received and held talks with the East Sudan Front delegation headed by Mr. Mussa Mohamed Ahmed, Chairman of the Front.

In the meeting, it was disclosed that although there exists readiness on the part of the Sudanese Government of National Unity and the East Sudan Front to implement the year-old East Sudan Agreement, there still remains a lot to be done. In connection to this, it was disclosed that the Eritrean government had been and would continue to hold discussions with the Sudanese Government of National Unity as regards the issue.

Moreover, it was revealed that it is the expectation of the Sudanese Government of National Unity and the East Sudan Front to witness a major step forward in the new year of the implementation of the Agreement.

Indicating that the existence of a united and strong organization of the East Sudan Front is imperative for the implementation of the East Sudan Agreement, President Isaias asserted that in view of the fact that the Front is a key partner of the Sudanese Government of National Unity, strengthening the organization is decisive in the implementation of the Agreement. To this end, he underlined that the governments of Eritrea and Sudan, as well as all the parties concerned in the implementation of the Agreement, should play their due role.
