Minna — The Minister of state for Education, Dr. Jeremiah Agada has called on every Nigerian to join in the war against examination malpractices in the country in a order to revive the collapsing education sector.

Dr. Agada made this known to Journalists yesterday in Minna when he paid a working visit to the National Headquarters of the National Examination Council (NECO).

"Let every stakeholder which includes parents, guardians, teachers, and students join hands in the holistic fight against malpractices to improve the standard of education of the Nigerian child".

According to Agada, examination malpractice has eaten deep into the fabric of the society that parents and guardians are also involved in the act by assisting their children in perpetrating the act.

"The issue of exam malpractice has eaten deep into the fabric of our great nation that you find out that every one is involved in it. Parents/guardians who pay the fees of their children and should advice them to read and when they dont perform well in school scold them are now the same people who give their children/wards money to bribe examiners and involve themselves in the act", he said.

Agada called on NECO to handle the isssue of malpractice with all seriousness to assist in the improvement of education in the country.

Also speaking, the Registrar of NECO, Professor Promise Okpala lamented some of the problems the Council is facing as inadequate funding and the need for the Council to employ more staff to enable the Council fight malpractices.
