Entebbe — The German Society will on Saturday open the first German secondary school in Entebbe with the aim of promoting cross-cultural encounters and high quality education focused on Ugandan conditions.

The school will offer an international school profile, but with the national curriculum and Ugandan national exams.

The school director, Marcel Horning said the school would first open up with two o-level classes and later open up other classes.

"It will admit Senior one and Senior two comprising of not more than 30 students each as we secure more land for expansion," Mr Horning said.

He said the school will not look at centered teaching but apply open teaching methods to have the lessons oriented to the students and not the teachers.

There are 117 German schools and 360 school departments supported by the German government world wide to create a forum and a meeting point for different cultures.
