Burundi: Senator Ndayizeye Celebrates the First Anniversary of His Release

Bujumbura — The former President of the Republic, Domitien Ndayizeye, celebrated the first anniversary of his release from the central prison of Mpimba.

In a press conference that he held at his home, he criticized some authorities of the country who continue to preach the Bible while they continue to commit acts of evil against the population. He also said that authorities should know that after a certain period their power will be over if they do not serve those who elected them.

Senator Ndayizeye was arrested in connection with a fabricated plot against the republican institutions. Former Vice-President Alphonse Kadege was also arrested. Investigations later showed that the plot was the invention of the ruling party, CNDD-FDD. This affair has shaken the ruling party, leading to an internal division caused by the dismissal and arrest of the former leader of CNDD-FDD, Hussein Radjabu. Hussein Radjabu is still seen as a scapegoat since the fabrication involved many people and the authorities have never showed regret.

Some of those who were arrested in connection with the fabricated coup were tortured in the prison of the national intelligence services. A year after, pictures on how Kadege was tortured by Major Jean-Bosco Nsabimana are being passed around the world. Major Nsabimana is now at large. The police failed to arrest him in connection with a series of armed robberies that he said were commandeered by the top authorities of this department of police at the service of the President of the Republic.

A great blunder which was done by the goverment is the way how they malltreated your fellows in prison. We all agree that tourturing a political prisoner by any means is absolutely an offence againts human rights ,on behalf of the members of the NEW BURUNDI PERSPECTIVE FRONT we do support that all those who are concerned in tuorturing other peolpe shuold be penalised according to the law.
