The South African Youth Chamber of Commerce (SAYCC) is calling for aspirant, emerging and established young women in business to join the Young Women-in- Business Forum.

The forum, which will be meeting on Saturday, exposes young women to funding and procurement opportunities.

They will also be informed of business development services available from various agencies in the private sector and government.

"The forum aims to build a powerful brand that seeks to accelerate the participation of young women in the country's economy," said SAYCC President, Thapelo Maleke.

The forum, he said, would provide young women with much needed information regarding entrepreneurship education and skills development programmes.

"It will facilitate the process of linking young women to the business development services voucher programme of the Umsobomvu Youth Fund. This programme enables them to benefit from business development support ranging from R1 500 to R23 000," Mr Maleke said.

The forum will also enable the young women to interact with successful women in business and government and business opportunity providers.

The SAYCC is one of the founding partners of the Youth Entrepreneurship Campaign 2010, which aims to create awareness and increase the total entrepreneurship activity among the youth.

It also allows young people to access business development services and finance.

Speaking at the unveiling of the campaign in July 2005, Mr Maleke said the campaign would assist to boost entrepreneurial activity in the country.
