A former general of the defunct National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL) has disclosed that former President Charles Taylor ordered the killing of Samuel Dokie for what he called, "sharp mouth."

Dokie, a native of Nimba County, his wife, bodyguard and sister-in-law were bundled in a vehicle and burned to death few months into Taylor's regime.

M. Allen Nicholas, alias Arab Devil" told the TRC public hearing that he did not know the details, but recalled his former commander, Christopher Vambo, alias General Mosquito" mentioning that to him at one point in time.

"I was not part of the process, but my Commander then came to the House where we were and said that he was going on a mission," he said. The former NPFL fighter told the hearing, "mosquito" was called upon by Benjamin Nyetan, former Frontline Commander of Taylor Forces to join him execute the mission.

Nicholas, who joined the NPFL as a child said he got the clear picture of the situation in Lofa County during the LURD war. According to him, the late Dokie's son was a member of the NPFL but was killed by the top brass of the NPFL in Lofa for fear that he could cause uproar against the organization for the killing of his father.

Samuel Dokie, then of the NPFL, broke away and formed the Central Revolutionary Council (CRC), to go against the NFPL. That faction short lived but his founders were not easily forgiven by the then head of the NPFL, Charles Taylor, who later became president.

The death of Dokie caused uneasiness in the country but the government then did nothing to pursue the case to bring his killers to book. Charles Taylor played around the incident up to the time he left power but it was no secret all around that the government was fully behind the scheme.
