Luanda — The renowned Angolan girl band "As Gingas" released last Saturday, in Luanda's LAC square, their latest album entitled "Luachimo".
The album was sold in the spot and band members signed autographs for fans who rushed to buy the CD in that public sale.
The artistic director of the band, Rosa Roque, said the number of the sales was excellent.
"( ) Our commitment to keeping serving the Angolan music will continue", she said, visibly happy with the crowd of fans and music lovers at the spot.
The 14-track album presents a rhythmic line that is slightly different from the previous ones, which includes the Cape Verdean coladera music. However, the band did not move very much away from their local semba style "trademark", which they have sung for the past 20 years of their carrier.
As Gingas were formed in 1983, and their carrier took off in a children´s radio programme.
The band's previous albums are entitled "Mbanza Luanda", "Malanje-Natureza e Ritmos", "Xiyami" and "Muenhu".
