Harare — FORMER Warriors captain Peter Ndlovu -- who was omitted from the squad released by Zifa for a proposed friendly on February 6 -- could still bounce back after all.
Zifa announced a team of 25-players which new Warriors coach Valinhos would like to use for what will be his first real assessment of the Zimbabwean team.
However, national teams general manager Shariff Mussa yesterday said the squad was not conclusive.
Mussa said there have to be a spate of other meetings between Valinhos, his assistants David Mandigora and Brenna Msiska, team manager Ernest Sibanda and Zifa.
Consultations will also have to be made with some of the players and their clubs, he said.
It therefore means players like Ndlovu, Tinashe Nengomasha, France-based Harrington Shereni, reigning CBZ Premiership Soccer Star of the Year Murape Murape, Poland-based Dickson Choto and Shingi Kawondera might find their way in the finalised squad.
Valinhos is still new to Zimbabwean players and might need a wider base to select the players.
While the doors might open for some players, chances of other players being dropped from the provisional list are there.
Zifa are chasing Egypt, Burkina Faso, Botswana, Tanzania, Mozambique and the Democratic Republic of Congo for possible friendly games before the Warriors play in the qualifiers for the 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup.
The Warriors' first game would be away in Conakry, against Guinea, who are currently rated the third best African side.
