Somalia: Deadly Clash Occurs in Mogadishu

Mogadishu — At least three people were killed and three others were wounded in Suuqa-Holaha neighborhoods after armed groups and Ethiopian troops arrived there have clashed on monday.

The fighting has started after Ethiopian soldiers' have widened in Suuqa-Holaha locale.

The dead people are reportedly were civilians including psychologically nutty man after heavy gunfire has utterly started in Suuqa Holaha market which caused the people and vehicle's activities to stop up with in several minutes

Residents told shabelle English section that the skirmishing has in full swing following Ethiopian armed troops based at former Maslah military campground deeply entered in the village that reasoned that armed groups were at the area to attack the soldiers and to increase the hostility.

Also some residents told that the Ethiopian soldiers wanted to guard a vehicle they were carrying with logistics which was passing in the village.

Civilians have borne the brunt of almost daily fighting in Mogadishu between Ethiopian-backed government forces and the remnants of an Islamist militia that briefly controlled large parts of the country at the end of 2006.

The African nation has been plagued by civil unrest since the 1991 ouster of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre, and defied numerous peace initiatives.

The fighting has killed hundreds of mainly civilians over the past six months and forced hundreds of thousands to flee the city, sparking what the UN has described as Africa's worst humanitarian crisis.

The African Union has deployed a contingent of 1,600 Ugandan peacekeepers but they have failed to stabilise the restive capital.

The pan-African body plans to eventually deploy 8,000 peacekeepers in the Horn of Africa country, which has been plagued by civil unrest since the 1991 ouster of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre and defied numerous peace initiatives.
