Ilorin — Fear is now gripping Nigerians residents in Côte d'Ivoire as the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire and Nigeria Super Eagles clash today.

Reports from Abidjan and other towns of Cote d'Ivoire revealed that the Nigerian residents in that country are apprehensive of experiencing humiliations that always characterised such encounters.

Sources in Abidjan told THISDAYSports yesterday in Ilorin that Nigerian residents are very apprehensive that if the Eagles win's today encounter may spell a doom for them.

However, speaking with THISDAYSports on the telephone from Cote d'Ivoire yesterday, a Nigerian residing in Abidjan, Mr. Lateef Adeniyi said that the situation in that country now called for prayers as the Ivoiriens have mapped out their strategy to intimidate Nigerians should today's match not go their way.

According to him, it is every time when there is a football match between Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire - be it at the club level or national team - that Nigerian residents in Abidjan experience this ugly situation.

"The hatred is so much that if the Nigeria side plays here and the host county fails to win, we would be at the receiving end as the Ivoiriens would start attacking us and our shops."

Adeniyi who hails from Ejigbo in Ejigbo local government council area of Osun state, however, called on the Nigerian Ambassador in Cote d'Ivoire to help them checkmate such incidents.
