West Africa: Special Flight for Guests From Accra, Lagos

23 January 2008

Lagos — Guests to the Glo-CAF Awards ceremony in Lome, Togo will be flown on chartered planes that will operate from Lagos, Nigeria and Accra in Ghana.

A senior Globacom official, Okon Iyanam , the Executive Director, Marketing Communications said the flights from Lagos and Accra became necessary as the continent's football community is largely in Ghana for the Nations Cup tournament.

Over 600 guests from Nigeria and Ghana will be attending the ceremony at the prestigious Palais Des Congres, in Lome.

The guest list from Ghana includes officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ex-international players, the three nominees for the Player of the Year and members of the Ghana business and political communities.

"We have a tradition of ensuring that our guests are treated to the best possible travel comfort and this year, Globacom has gone a step higher with the hiring of special charter aircrafts that will shuttle between Lome and the two capitals," Iyanam said.

In the two earlier editions of the awards ceremony, Globacom provided special jets that flew in the nominees from Europe. Last year, guests from Lagos were also flown into Accra on two aircrafts chartered specifically for the event.
