Liberian Contractors Laud Firestone

Monrovia — Liberian contractors currently involved in the construction of modern housing units for the dedicated employees of Firestone Liberia have lauded the Management of Firestone Liberia for the recognition accorded them by awarding them contracts to participate in the reconstruction and rehabilitation of housing facilities within the concession area.

They also commended Management for the speedy manner in which it is rehabilitating damaged infrastructure and constructing new ones throughout the concession area.

According to the general managers of these firms, they are gratified by Management's continuous efforts to improving the living conditions of its dedicated employees and their families.

The proprietors of these Liberian-owned construction firms have also expressed appreciation to Firestone Liberia for the confidence it has and continues to repose in their professional abilities to form part of the company's reconstruction drive.

The owners of Daso Enterprises, The Barclays and Associates, New Attitude Construction, Apex Engineering and construction Company, among others, say by contracting their services, Firestone Liberia has provided an impetus for them to provide job opportunities for some unemployed Liberians.

Mr. Robert Soko, General Manager of Daso Enterprises, said he was impressed with what the Management of Firestone Liberia was doing in terms of providing opportunities for Liberians to get involve in its quest to construct modern housing units aimed at improving the living and working conditions of its dedicated employees.

Mr. Soko cautioned the occupants of these newly built structures to take good care of them saying, "Well, we are happy with what Firestone is doing; it is now left with us and those who will occupy these units to take good care of them."

Also expressing his delight is the General Manager of Barclays and Associates, G. Martin Tokpa, who said he was happy with the level of development in Firestone and praised the company for selecting what he called capable Liberian construction firms to undertake such a huge developmental project that costs millions of United States dollars.

Mr. Tokpa added that it was an opportunity given them as Liberians to develop their country and admonished his fellow contractors to work harder in the best interest of their country.

For his part, the General Manager of the New Attitude Construction, Mr. Andrew Kollie said that Firestone was doing well to award contracts to Liberians as a manifestation of the Liberianization policy.

Mr. Kollie furthered that with the awarding of contracts to his company he has been able to employed ordinary Liberians to earn disposable income.

For the General Manager of Apex Engineering and construction, Mr. Reginald Kollie, as a Liberian, he was grateful that Firestone could award his company contract to participate in the reconstruction drive of the company.

He praised Firestone Liberia for the cooperation given them in the implementation of their respective contracts. They assured that they will continue to perform to the expectations of Firestone Liberia and its employees.

Several Liberian-owned construction firms are currently and actively involved in the reconstruction efforts of Firestone Liberia.
