Eden

In line with the efforts being made by the Eritrean Telecommunications Corporation (ERI-TEL) to expand and upgrade telephone services across the country, the inhabitants of the semi-urban center of Eden in Anseba region have now access to automatic phone service.

The supervisor of projects in ERI-TEL, Eng. Girmai Tsige, pointed out that following the introduction of modern equipment, the area has now access to direct line and that 250 people have already become beneficiaries of the service.

Moreover, he indicated ERI-TEL has replaced old telephone lines in Keren with new ones, and that the number of beneficiaries has increased from 2,500 to 5,000. Eng. Girmai also noted that preparations are underway to introduce mobile phones in Keren, and that a building complex has been constructed and tower installed in Hagaz and Adi-Tekelezan as part of endeavors to introduce mobile phones. The residents of the two towns would also get access to fixed telephone lines in the near future, he added.
