In line with efforts to control the spread of communicable diseases in all parts of the country, the rate of TB infection in the Gash-Barka region has dropped by 87% compared to last year, according to the Ministry of Health branch office in the region.

Reports of the branch office indicated that vigorous campaigns have been undertaken to raise the awareness of the public regarding the spread of communicable diseases and that 34 health professionals have received training on new TB treatment strategies. Moreover, the number of people who visit voluntary blood testing centers is growing from time to time as a result of massive campaigns, the reports added.

There are 20 voluntary blood testing and consultation centers in the Gash-Barka region.
