Kampala — THE Tororo resident district commissioner, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka, has attributed the district's low performance in the 2007 Primary Living Examinations (PLE) to jiggers.
Hashaka said most of the primary schools he visited in the district had dusty floors and the pupils had jiggers in the feet and hands. "Instead of concentrating in class, the pupils were scratching the jiggers. How do you expect such a pupil to perform well in the final examinations? Even the head teacher's offices are infested with jiggers."
