Cameroon: Mpouel Bala Lazare, Ambassador to Eq. Guinea

The Head of State, Paul Biya on 25 January 2008, appointed Mpouel Bala Lazare Cameroon's extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador to the Republic of Equatorial Guinea.

Born on 18 April 1951 at Abong Mbang, Upper Nyong Division of the East Province, he is a seasoned diplomat and Officer of the Cameroon National Order of Valour. Ambassador Mpouel Bala Lazare started occupying key positions in the various rungs of Cameroon's public administration in 1979 when he was appointed Secretary of Foreign Affairs in the then Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He reached the zenith in April 1995 when he was appointed Secretary General at the Ministry of External Relations. From there, he moved to the then Ministry of the Environment and Forest in the same capacity and was equally the Secretary General of the Ministry of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industry between April 2001 to December 2006.

Mpouel Bala Lazare has a rich experience in handling diplomatic issues after having worked in key positions in Cameroon's diplomatic representations abroad, participated in international meetings and conferences. He is a father of eight children and is known in his native Upper Nyong Division as a political icon and development oriented person.
