The French secretary of State, Jean-Marie Bockel, will participate in a debate with African students at the University of Paris VIII-Saint Denis on Wednesday, January 30 2008 at 4:30 P.M. at the request of university President Pascal Binczak.
Secretary Bockel will be accompanied by Jean-Christophe Rufin, France's ambassador to Senegal.
This event is in keeping with a directive issued by the French president seeking feedback from members of Africa's civil society, especially the youth, regarding their expectations.
To that end, Secretary Bockel launched "generationafrique," a blog that will serve as a platform for informal dialogue on the issue.
"As the leading website for African news on the Internet, AllAfrica was the obvious choice to make this announcement," Secretary Bockel said, adding, "Where else would one launch dialogue with African youth?"
Further consultations will be organized by the secretary of State in the weeks to come.
