Monrovia — The Vice President of Liberia at the head of a four-member delegation is expected to leave the country Wedesday to represent President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf at the 10th Ordinary Session of he African Union (AU) Heads of State meeting convening in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa from January 31-February 2.
The Vice President and delegation will be received upon arrival in Addis Ababa Thursday by Foreign Minister Olubanbe King Akerele and Liberia's Ambassador to Ethiopia Dr. Clinton.
The meeting of heads of state and government will open Thursday with African Union Commission Chairperson Alpha Oumar Konare, the Secretary General of the Arab League, Amir Moussa and UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, making statements.
The opening statement will be made by the curent Chairman of the AU, Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor, while the High Representative of the Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshiro Mori, will also speak at the program.
At this year's meeting which is being held on the theme: "Industrial Development of Africa", the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson and Commissioners of the Afican Union Commission as well as members of the Security Council will be elected and appointed.
