Angola: Country, Cuba Sign Police Cooperation Accord

Luanda — Angola and Cuba Friday here signed a cooperation accord in the field of security and public order, in the light of the existing bilateral relations.

Made up of seven points, the accord was signed by the deputy Home Affairs ministers of Angola, Ângelo Veiga Tavares, and of Cuba, Millian Pino, who is visiting the country since last Sunday.

The protocol gives priority to the training of cadres in various areas, as well as the supply of technical assistance during this year.

The parties also agreed on the annual evaluation of the results of the cooperation with the aim of making readjustments, considering the current necessities.

Information sharing activities are to be carried out alternatively, in both countries.

To the Angolan Home minister, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo, the agreement is a step forward in the cooperation with Cuba in this sector, therefore the need to take advantage of this country's experience in the fields of scientific training and organisation in the sphere of public order and security.

The Cuban official, in the country at the invitation of Angolan police authorities, visited the Electronic Brigade and the Schools of Public Order and of Protection and Intervention, Capolo I and II regions, as well as the "Osvaldo Serra Van-Dúnem" Medium Institute of Policing Sciences.

Millian Pino heads back home next Sunday.
