Abuja — A member of the House of Representatives from Kwali, Abaji, Gwagwalada and Kuje Federal Constituency, Honourable Isa Dobi, yesterday urged the Nigerian Police Force to do everything within its reach to fish out the killers of executive chairman of Kwali Area Council, Honorable Samuel Gwamna.
Honorable Samuel Gwamna was shot dead by unknown gunmen early this week; the police have confirmed the assassination and promised to bring the perpetrators to book.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP Sunday in an exclusive chart yesterday, the federal lawmaker expressed concern over the rate of political assassinations in Nigeria and beyond, adding that the development portends serious danger on the entire polity.
According to Honorable Dobi, "It is painful that despite the fact that FCT is seriously backward, our people are involved in assassination of some of the best brains they have in the name of politics and I feel we all have reasons to be worried .
"It is unfortunate that we cannot come together to fight a common course in the overall interest of the people we represent, all we are interested in is to carry guns and be killing ourselves, I urge the police to do all they can to fish out those that perpetrated this act".
Asked what could possibly have been responsible for the act, the federal lawmaker said, "Samuel Gomana never chased anybody's wife, he never quarreled or fought anybody, he has never taken anybody's land, and I strongly believe that this act must have been politically motivated, something must be done in that regard, today it is Samuel Gwamna, tomorrow it might be another person".
Honorable Dobi, vice chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Culture and Tourism further pleaded with his constituents to come up with any information or clue that would lead to the arrest of the murderers.
'You cannot solve a problem by running away from such a problem; you cannot solve a problem by keeping a criminal, if there is anybody with any information the person should bring it forward no matter how little the information is, we should also not forget that there is no way two people would occupy the same seat, we should learn to embrace ourselves after elections, both Christianity and Islam forbids killing and I urge the people to remain calm, while the relevant agencies would do all within their reach to fish out those that committed this act".
