Frodebu disagrees with the information minister over who bears responsibility over the growing trend of violence. On February 4, after the government's long silence, the information minister and spokesman for the government, Mrs Hafsa Mossi, said that PALIPEHUTU-FNL bears responsibility for the escalating trend of violence that continues to shake the country. Frodebu which today buried NURWAHA, a prominent supporter who was killed on Sunday, disagrees with the information minister.

This party states that the killing of its supporter is the work of a militia that some people close to the government are calling up in order to terrorize Burundians before the 2010 elections. Frodebu recommends that the government carry out investigations before blaming other sides.

Nurwaha was a member of the communal council of Kanyosha. He was also the vice-president of the FRODEBU section of Kanyosha. Sources from Kanyosha say that in Kanyosha the National Intelligence Services armed a group of people, including demobilised combatants whose aim is to hunt down FNL combatants and opposition opponents.
