D/Kudu, Dutse — Jigawa state government has released the sum of N25million life line to Jigawa Golden Stars FC as take up grants with a view to save the club from relegation from premier league.
The State Commissioner for Information, youth sports and culture, Alhaji Mukhtari Mahammad Birniwa, who disclosed this to news in Dutse on Monday said that the good gesture was part of the state's government appreciation to the club for their impressive performance against arch rival , Kano Pillars foot ball club , when they held them to a goalless draw during their second round Globalcom premier league decides at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano last Saturday.
He assured of the state government's readiness to continue to finance the club, as more funds will soon be released to them in order to ensure that they do not only sail from relegation but perform excellently both in premier league and national challenge cup competition.
He disclosed that the money will be used for payment of outstanding match bonuses and day to day expenses of the club in the current season.
The commissioner therefore warned the officials and board members of the club to use the money judiciously and justifiably stating that any body caught attempting to divert the money for personal use will be dealt with according to the laws of the land.
He also warned the players and coaching crew to justify the gesture of the state governor Alhaji Sule Lamido by rededicating and reengineering themselves in order to make the state proud at the national challenge cup soccer championship.
Alhaji Muktari Birniwa further added that the state government has also released the sum of N15 million for the renovation of Hadejia stadium so that Jigawa Stars will be back and play its remaining home matches at the stadium.
According to him, when Hadejia stadium is repaired, he will meet with the state director of sports, Malam Shaaibu Mahammed and vice chairman of the club, Alhaji Alili Galidima and take a decision on the matter.
