Maputo

Mozambique's Energy Minister, Salvador Namburete dismissed in Maputo on Thursday as rumors claims of fuel shortage in the capital.

According to the minister, the tankers that normally supply petrol stations in the capital have been grounded for the last few days due the long weekend; Monday was public holiday Heroes' Day, a situation that was worsened by the recent riots that caused much chaos in both cities Matola and Maputo on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Some of the petrol stations have been vandalized during the recent riots, which forced the closure of a number of petrol stations and most of the businesses, including banks, to prevent further damages.

According to the minister, the situation will improve by late this Thursday.
