He said the children were trafficked from Nassarawa, Lagos, Kano, Kwara and some villages within the FCT to be used as sex slaves and child labourers within the Motor Parks, Markets and restaurants in Abuja, which contravenes section 19 of the 'Trafficking Act in Persons'.

Musa disclosed that the officer in charge of the police human trafficking unit responded to information on the illicit trade and led a team of detectives to raid Jabi and Zuba Motor parks, where 74 victims were rescued from Jabi and 31 victims from Zuba Parks.

He said the 22 suspects arrested for the offence are at Suleja prisons after their arraignment before an Abuja High Court at Gwagwalada.

The police spokesperson said the case against the suspected traffickers was adjourned to February 14, for hearing.

"A victim, Chinedu Ojigwe said in her statement that she was brought to Abuja by one Grace Ajigwe, her sister, to help her sell in a beer parlour at Jabi Motor Park and was to be paid N5, 000 monthly," he said.

He said the victim was introduce to one Nnamdi, a bus conductor, who took her to Anambra State for three days and had canal knowledge of her before she was rescued by the Police.

The police image-maker said some of the suspects, such as Hajiya Jummai Umar, a food vendor at Jabi Park and Augustine Agwoli of Kado Kuchi village stated that they employed the victims to sell food in their restaurants.

"Hajiya Jummai in her statement said she employed four of the victims from Ara village in Nassarawa state and pays them N200 each per day, while Mr Augustine said in his statements that one of the victims was brought by his wife to Abuja some time last year," the police spokesperson added.

He said the victim left school to come to Abuja to work as a restaurant attendant at Jabi Park.

Musa disclosed further that one of the suspects, Amina Adamu actually confessed that she kidnapped the victims to the FCT for prostitution as well as to be used as slaves, for her to get money.

He appealed to parents to always ensure that they monitor the movements of their wards as well as allow them go to school in order for them to become useful citizens.
