Kampala — THE state minister for sports Charles Bakkabulindi has promised government support to the new cricket and golf leaders. In his first meeting with the two associations that recently held elections, Bakkabulindi said that change is healthy as long as the people in office do not forget the efforts of their predecessors. He also advised them to do something about public relations.
Uganda Golf Union president Dr. Eric Adriko, his vice, John Kisembo, Uganda Cricket Association chairman Dr. Kato Sebbaale and commissioner for sports Dan Tamwesigire attended the meeting.
"It is the first of the many meetings with the different federation heads as a way of promoting sports in the country. By getting the different ideas, we will be able to work together to shine," said Bakkabulindi.
UGU presented their plan, that targets a programme which will see them involve more women and the non-elite class into the game, as a way of building up a team for the 2010 World Cup.
Sebbaale said that the executive had targeted a return to Division II and this was going to be done by professionalising the national team and keeping it busy all year.
