Massawa — Relations between Eritrea and the United Arab Emirates enjoy over 40 years of historical and steady relations, President Isaias Afwerki underscored during a meeting he held yesterday in the port city of Massawa with the Chairman of the UAE's Red Crescent Society Dr. Saleh Mohamed Al-Tai.
Following discussions on bilateral relations between both nations and having agreed that the people and government of Eritrea and the UAE aspire to the boosting of relations between both sides, President Isaias Afwerki and Dr. Saleh Mohamed Al-Tai approved the need for establishment of investment and joint cooperation ventures between Eritrea and the UAE.
Pointing out that Sheikh Zaid Alnahyan of the UAE placed the founding establishments of the relations between the two countries, President Isaias Afwerki emphasized during the meeting that the people and government of the United Arab Emirates stood fast along the side of the people of Eritrea during their times of hardship by rendering moral and material support.
The president underlined that the visit by Dr. Saleh Mohammed Al-Tai opens a new chapter in investment and joint cooperation opportunities between both countries.
Noting that his current visit is to strengthen the long established relations between the peoples of both nations, Dr. Saleh Mohammed Al-Tai on his part said that concrete programs by the UAE are in the pipeline for human resource and infrastructural development in the health domain in general and in heart surgeries in particular.
Chairman of the UAE's Red Crescent Society Dr. Saleh Mohamed Al-Tai participated in the official 18th Anniversary Celebration of Operation Fenkil in Massawa.
