Asmara

In line with the initiative to promote domestic tourism, members of the Association of Eritrean returnees from North America and Canada conducted a visit in Gash-Barka region to observe different development programs and infrastructure works in the region.

The 33 nationals who used to live in North America and Canada for a long time observed the newly constructed bridges, micro-dams, factories and extensive agricultural plots, during which they received briefings by experts.

The chairman of the association, Mr. Nega Haile, expressed admiration to the major accomplishments registered through the coordinated efforts of the people and the Government. He also expressed conviction that Eritrea would achieve the desired economic development in the near future in view of the major development programs already implemented.

A member of the association who lived in Atlanta for 25 years, Mr. Woldeselasie Amanuel, said on his part that the group has asserted that the financial donations made by Eritrean nationals abroad have effectively backed up development programs. Commending the Eritrean government's efforts to promote lasting peace and stability, Mr. Woldeselasie reminded fellow citizens to meet challenges.

It is to be noted that members of the association conducted a similar visit in the Northern Red Sea and Anseba regions.
