Nasarawa — Shock and disbelief reigned supreme at Nyanya - Gwandra in Karu LGA of Nasarawa State recently as a former VIO officer was allegedly caught red-handed while trying to rape his neigbour's wife at midnight. This was even as the woman's husband had been sleeping in the compound on account of the unbearable heat that held sway that night.
One of the members of a vigilante group who rushed to the scene when the victim raised alarm said, "We were on our usual night duty, patrolling the town (Nyanya Gwandara) when we heard an unusual noise. We had to run there and when we got there, we saw two men fighting".
The vigilante group member, who did not want his name on print said, "As we separated them and asked to know what was the problem, we were shocked to see Jerry naked. Ahmed the husband of the woman whom Jerry was trying to rape, narrated to us how Jerry came all the way from his compound to rape his wife.
He said his wife had left the door open so that she will not be disturbed when her husband decides to come into the room.
To Ahmed's surprise, all of a sudden, he heard his wife shouting, he jumped inside the room only to see a man stark naked on his bed. The two men started fighting in the course of which the rapist bit Ahmed. Jerry was subsequently arrested and taken to the palace of the traditional ruler of Nyanya-Gwandara, Chief A.A. Ango, from where he was handed over to policemen at Masaka police station.
It was further gathered that Jerry is a serial rapist who had been caught in the act towards the tail end of last year, raping another woman.
According to a source, "that incident was covered up to avoid embarrassment, and he was seriously warned to repent . It therefore came as a shock to us to hear that it's the same Jerry that also attempted to rape this married woman. We don't know what came over him to behave this way".
gathered that the randy man, simply identified as Jerry, a native of Kaduna State, was said to have sneaked into the victim's room stark naked and attempted to rape the woman identified as Mrs. Ahmed, despite the fact that her husband was sleeping barely a shouting distance away.
