Hamelmalo

As part of efforts to conserve soil and water and enrich underground water resources, a micro-dam with a capacity of holding 56,000 cubic meters is under construction in Kurba-Bered, Hamelmalo sub-zone.

The micro-dam, once finalized, is expected to provide reliable potable water supply to the local inhabitants and their cattle, in addition to irrigating the nearby 70 hectares.

The Administrator of the sub-zone, Mr. Yemane Giliu, indicated that over a million Nakfa has been disbursed for the construction of the micro-dam through the Anseba regional administration and partners. So far, 90% of the undertaking has been finalized,

The inhabitants of the locality used to travel long distance to fetch water that was in itself not clean, according to reports.
