The Nigerian First Lady, Hajia Turai Umar Yar'adua is among the African First Ladies attendING the sixth conference of African First Ladies Peace Mission in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

On arrival on Thursday February 14, in Brazzaville, Mrs. Yar'adua was received by the Congolese First Lady Mrs. Antoinette Sassou Nguesso, Ag Ambassador of Nigeria to Congo Mr. Davidson Ikemefuna and other dignitaries at the Airport Maya-Maya in Brazzaville.

Before the opening session for First Ladies' General Assembly, Hajia Turai has met with some Nigerians resident in Congo in the Nigerian Embassy. She advised the residents to be peace makers and abide by the law always.

The acting Nigerian Ambassador, Mr Davidson Ikemefuna informed the First Lady that Nigeria and Congo have a long, historic bilateral relationship which has subsisted till date, adding that there were about 6,500 Nigerians resident in that country out of which 90percent were entrepreneurs while the rest 10percent were professionals.

One of the residents, Mr. Kasale Lasisi requested the Federal Government of Nigeria through the First Lady to ease transportation problems between Nigeria and Congo, by providing direct air link between them.

Members of the Nigerian community also requested that Nigerians in Diaspora be given the right to vote in the next national election.
