Nigeria: Abaji LG to Spend N6m on Sanitation

The Abaji Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), is to spend six million naira on the ongoing monthly sanitation exercise, chairman of the council, Alhaji Yahaya Musa Mohammed, has said.

Alhaji Yahaya who spoke during the refuse evacuation execercise at the council yesterday, said the council had put up measures in ensuring that all nooks and crannies of the council was kept clean in order to enhance safe and healthy environment for resident of the council.

According to him, the refuse evacuation exercise would cut across ten wards that commenced at Sokodabo street phase I, Yaba community Phase II and Gawu community phase III of the council.

Represented by the Supervisory councilor for Health, Alhaji Abubakar Musa Sokodabo, the chairman explained that the monthly sanitation which commenced last month was with the directive from the FCT minister for State, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, which he said the council had earlier spent two million for the kick off of the exercise across and engaged services of 300 women from various communities of the council.

He added that the council had liaised with the Abuja Environmental protection board (AEPB), in supervising all the metropolis of the council in ensuring that the council worked as directed by the minister for state.

"The sanitation exercise with the direction from minister for state Senator John James Akpanudegehen, and liaised with the Abuja environmental board to supervise our execercise for them to ensure that we are working according to the ministers directive. And am assuring you that the evacuation exercise would cut across the ten wards of the council" Alhaji Yahaya said.
