Lagos — Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) technical committee member, Adegboye Onigbinde has challenged the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) to take firm decision on whether to sack Super Eagles head coach, Berti Vogts or not.
Onigbinde said that men at the helm of affairs took the decision to hire Vogts in the first place and should be held accountable for all flaws now observed in the coach's contract.
"It's those people at the helm of affairs of Nigerian football who took the decision to employ Berti Vogts, and they should know what to do about him.
"Personally, I frown at terms of a contract that allow a coach to stay abroad, and report to the nation only ten days prior to a major match. I wonder how he would get to understand the system.
"It's unusual that they will allow him have so much liberty in his contract, and are now complaining about it. That's not something for me to think about, since it's the NFA who brought him, they should know how to control him," he posited.
Onigbinde call for the nucleus of any national team to be grounded on home based players, and revealed that he had made the same suggestion in his technical report for the Nations Cup.
"I think we played some decent football in those days because most of us were playing in our domestic leagues and we played more as a team," he said.
"So to get a truly great superstar out of the championship takes a while these days."
