An Angolan delegation attends from February 25 to March 07 in New York city (USA), the 52nd Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, whose topic is "The funding, promotion of gender equality and women autonomy".
According to the deputy minister of Family and Women Promotion, Paula Sacramento, one of the members of the Angolan delegation, who was speaking to the press, at the event Angola shall present the progress and constraints the country registered in terms of the gender policy, economic growth, as well as the improvement of the population's living conditions.
The session will debate topics relating to the onvention on the elimination of all kinds of discrimination against women (already ratified by Angola), violence, genital mutilation, forced marriage relating to the lady and the issue of children made hostage during armed conflicts.
To the deputy minister, this special session aims at assessing until what stage the budgets granted by governments for gender policies have contributed to equality of opportunities and women's autonomy.
Paula Sacramento defended that one of the positive aspects concerning the condition of the Angolan women is the fact that she is becoming more aware of her rights and duties, as well as fighting to conquer a space and financial autonomy.

The Angolan delegation is made up of 43 members including staff of the Ministry of Family and Women Promotion, national and provincial directors, deputy ministers, NGOs and organisations dealing with women issues and lady representatives of political parties.
