Harare — Herald Assistant Editor Innocent Gore has been appointed Editor of The Southern Times, a regional newspaper jointly published by Zimbabwe Newspapers and New Era of Namibia under NamZim.
Gore joined The Herald in 1999 as a senior news reporter, having previously worked at Ziana and Thomson Publications.
He was appointed presidential reporter in 2001, Deputy News Editor in 2002 and then News Editor in 2003.
The following year, he was promoted to the position of Assistant Editor, a post he held until his new appointment. Gore holds a Diploma in Mass Communication from Harare Polytechnic.
He takes over from Moses Magadza, the first editor of the regional newspaper, and will be based in Namibia.
At a farewell lunch yesterday, Zimpapers Chief Executive and NamZim board member Mr Justin Mutasa said the board was confident Gore would take the paper to the next level.
Herald Editor and NamZim board member Pikirayi Deketeke said the foundation for the three-year-old newspaper had been laid and Gore should aspire to grow it.
