Massawa — President Isaias Afwerki yesterday received and held talks in Massawa with the participants of the cross-country workshop on evaluating the impact of malaria and HIV/AIDS, which took place in Asmara.
In the meeting, the President expressed appreciation to the workshop participants for the visit they conducted to observe national reconstruction programs and the hospitality of the Eritrean people, as well as the endeavors being made to control communicable diseases and the achievements registered on the basis of internal resources. He also expressed conviction that the workshop would lay the groundwork for future exchanges of experiences.
The workshop participants briefed the President on the deliberations they conducted and the resolutions adopted at the workshop. They indicated that the workshop was held in Eritrea in view of the fact that the country has registered major achievements despite the limited resources at its disposal, and as such it could be exemplary to other countries.
Noting that the accomplishments scored in the places they visited was beyond their expectations, the participants expressed satisfaction with the hospitability of the people and Government of Eritrea. They further lauded the endeavors the Eritrean people are making and the achievements scored.
The Ministry of Health hosted a dinner reception at the Red Sea Hotel in honor of the workshop participants, during which the Sibrit Cultural Troupe staged musical performances.
Representatives of Eritrea, Kenya, Benin, DR Congo, Ghana, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Senegal, Zambia and South Sudan attended the five-day workshop that concluded yesterday.
