Arusha — Only 24 out of the 53 member states of the African Union.have so far ratified the protocol establishing the Court on Human and Peoples' Rights which has its headquarters in Arusha.
Professor Gerard Niungeko, president of the newly established court on Saturday, Feb 16 told the Tanganyika Law Society 2008 Annual general meeting that the slow pace of ratification and the issue of access to it by individuals and non governmental organisations (NGOs) was a serious challenge to the court.
