Nigeria: Miss Tourism Outlines Plan

Miss Tourism Nigeria Organisation has raised the stake of its activism and advocacy for tourism as it has announced a five year plan, which is not only aimed at shoring the gains the organisation has made over the years but entrenching the outfit as a serious entity dedicated to the promotion of tourism and Nigeria 's image.

The organiation's agenda was unfolded by the president, Nike Agunbiade, when her team visited the Minister of Culture, Tourism and national Orientation, Adetokunboh Kayode in his Abuja office to canvass support for the organisation. The minister who was highly impressed by the detailed presentation gave expressed approval even as he pledged the continued support of the ministry to the body.

Going by the presentation, Agunbiade stated that the five years agenda when pursued to its conclusion would place Miss Tourism Nigeria on a higher and respectable pedestal. Within the period, say contented that the outfit would not only increase its presence across the country but also hopes to make a serious impact on the world stag as it plans to make it ' Nigeria is coool,' theme a household name. For this year, the organisation has on the block a three fold programme that it intends to follow seriously. This includes a tourism expo and carnival, which is expected to hold in November in Lagos . According to Agunbiade, the two days fair/carnival is design to expo the tourism potentials of the country to the world and bring together the various operators and stakeholders.

Besides, Agunbiade also informed the minister that the organization would continue with its other traditional activities for the year. Top on the bill is the promotion of charity, which involves canvassing for support and assistance for charity organizations in the country. And the promotion of Nigeria 's image through its Nigeria is coool theme and the publication of a dedicated magazine, ' Nigeria is coool.' In his response, the minister who expressed delight over the activities of the organization, commended Agunbiade and her team for the good work aimed at promoting Nigeria , which he said is a furthering of the ministry's agenda too. Kayode urged the team to sustain the momentum that it has already created even as he pledged the support and assistance of the ministry in achieving the laudable goals of Miss Tourism Nigeria Organisation.

It would be recalled that Miss Tourism Nigeria beauty pageant debuted in 2005 and has since played itself to the top as a national event. It basic aim is the promotion of the innate beauty intelligence of the Nigerian maiden without the attendant outward display associated with beauty pageant. It has chosen as it vehicle tourism and promotion of the positive image of the country.
